Brought to Tears

Brought to tears

What would it take? How much more can we tolerate? At what point do we break down before God crying out, “Father, Save Us. Please. We submit. Our ways doom us.”

Truly, in our daily life do we even recognize how far we’ve fallen? The Lord hears the cry of the poor. Do we?

Does our relationship with Jesus bring us to tears? Those overwhelming graces of healing and mercy surrounding us with peace beyond understanding? Or aren’t we in a position of needing God to save us from anything or to bring us peace? Is our house on such firm ground that God is forgotten more often than not? Is the peace which we have founded our lives on something other than God’s love and mercy? That sadly would be a house built on sand destined to collapse.

Is my foundation built on sand or stone? We possibly are not honest with ourselves with what our real foundation is. Where is our true hunger and thirst? Really? Then why all the other pursuits and possessions? Why are we not pursuing lost souls suffering the purgatory of a life without God? They surround us, yet our response is lacking. If anything this should bring us to tears of repentance. Do we realize the pursuit of souls provides eternal happiness in this life and the next?

The Lord hears the cry of our poverty of spirit. How and why do we resist these pleas and tears? Our tears and our communities' fears and tears. Are we aware how a personal relationship with Jesus works through a personal relationship with others?

Lord, we are so poor that we fail to recognize what you offer us. It’s so hard for us spiritually homeless to comprehend living in the mansion you offer. Heal our unbelief and our lack of trust in what you seek to provide us.

What would it take? How much more can we tolerate? At what point do we break down before God crying out, “Father, Save Us. Please. We submit. Our ways doom us.”
